ABOUT THE PROJECT

ROTOPLAS.

Rotoplas is Latin America’s leading water solutions company with a passion and commitment to the care and responsible use of water, offering products and services for the storage, conveyance, purification, and treatment of water. We were approached by Rotoplas to develop and define the visual concept and design language for the next generation of their flagship water tanks based on their new manufacturing technology. We worked closely with the Rotoplas team to study, research and understand the needs of the diverse market for this global products.

Responding to a series of pain points and user observations the new design features include integrated lifting rings, improved dimensions for maneuverability as well as a stackable design and dimensions for ease of transport and vertical storage, reinforced walls and a wider neck for improved access and maintenance among other market topping features.

Visually, we created a design that highlights the robust and strong nature of the product accentuating its quality and life long warranty through a clean and universal shape that alludes to the product’s modern manufacturing process. Given the tank's diverse and vast market and use, the aforementioned combination of attributes were integrated into a practical geometry that would blend easily in a diverse number of different landscapes and settings.

The Ecchinocactus family of plants, a type of cactus that can grow virtually anywhere within the Mexican territory, served as our source of inspiration, a plant that holds and stores water but can also grow and blend in a number of different landscapes. The result is a faceted geometry that blends with clean surfaces to provide a balanced, yet rugged appearance.

Particular attention was also given to the tank's top, providing a series of ergonomical improvements such as grip surfaces for easy opening and closing while also providing a tighter and more resistant seal when closed.
